Read
Ecclesiastes 5:18–20; Romans 14:17
Reflect
Right in the middle of all the fog, Solomon says something stunning: God can keep a heart occupied with joy. Not because the fog disappears, and not because all my questions are answered, but because joy itself is a gift from God. Enjoyment is grace, not control.
This is where the light of the Son breaks through. Jesus purchased a new heart at the cross, and the Spirit now writes joy there as part of the life of the kingdom. The Christian life is not pretending that life is easy. It is learning to receive work, food, family, limits, and ordinary days as gifts from the Father while Christ reigns within. Joy is not something I manufacture; it is something God gives in Christ.
Scripture Promise
Romans 14:17 — “The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
Sit in Silence
Where do I most need the Spirit to turn my heart from grasping for gain to gratefully receiving God’s gifts?
