WHY CHURCH MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

As long as someone has a relationship with God and is a part of the greater body of Christ in this world, why is it necessary to have something like church membership? We welcome guests and attendees throughout the year with open arms and would never turn them away, but we are looking for more than just the familiarity of faces seen every week. Meaningfully belonging to a local church allows you to be a part of (and a participant in) a community that supports, cares for, and loves you as you pursue life with Jesus. It’s also a place where you can discover your unique gifts and abilities by using them to serve God’s people and His Church through life on mission.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP IS A COVENANT

By becoming a member, you are making a covenant with the elders and other members within this local church. You are committing to love, serve, and invest in this particular body.

A covenant has both requirements and expectations. Requirements are things we have to meet before becoming a member. Expectations are things we commit to do and grow into as a member.

Submission to the authority of the Bible
Baptized as a Christian
Affirmation of the RLF Membership Confessional Statement
